Project Overview
Mayco Construction successfully transformed a small preparation kitchen at Oakdale Primary School into a modern, fully equipped commercial kitchen environment.
Delivered within a particularly tight programme, the project required careful coordination across multiple trades to complete extensive structural alterations, building works and mechanical and electrical installations.
Scope of Works
Mayco provided a complete turnkey refurbishment package, including:
- Removal of internal blockwork walls
- Installation of new structural steelwork
- Formation of new door openings
- Below-ground drainage alterations
- Installation of new fire doors and fire shutters
- New suspended ceiling grid
- White Rock hygienic wall cladding throughout
- Commercial-grade flooring
- Plumbing and heating installations
- Complete electrical installation
- Painting and decorating
- Installation of the new commercial kitchen
- External fencing and gates
Project Delivery
Working within a live school environment and to a demanding timescale, our team carefully managed the different phases of construction to maintain progress and coordinate all specialist trades.
The structural alterations and below-ground drainage works were completed first, allowing the new internal layout and building services installations to proceed efficiently. Hygienic wall finishes, commercial flooring and fire-safety measures were then installed to create a durable, practical and compliant kitchen environment.
The Result
The completed refurbishment has provided Oakdale Primary School with a modern commercial kitchen that is hygienic, functional and designed to support the school’s ongoing catering requirements.
